First, understand what you are building.
A scheduled task
A configured run at an agreed time. Needs supported scheduling, accessible inputs, a delivery destination and a missed-run plan.
A connected agent
An assistant with access to permitted systems. Requires a separate access review, action limits and enforceable approval gates.
A human-owned process
A named person checks the work, makes decisions and can stop it. A role title does not give AI authority.

Chief of Staff
Draft an internal brief from approved notes. Show evidence, decisions needed and unresolved issues. No scheduling, messages or decisions.
Growth Assistant
Draft three post ideas from approved product facts. Label unverified claims. Do not invent testimonials, publish, contact prospects or spend money.
Customer Success Assistant
Summarize supplied, sanitized cases and propose responses. Flag sensitive issues for the owner. Do not send replies, promise terms, issue refunds or alter accounts.
Operations Analyst
Summarize an approved report and flag exceptions with row references. Separate observations from estimates. Do not change records, assign staff or execute payments.

A weekly brief contains two different deadline dates. Should the assistant choose the newest one and send instructions?

No. It should show the conflicting evidence and ask the owner to resolve it. A newer date is not automatically an approved date, and the briefing role cannot send instructions.
